The House of Machrie, nestling in the grounds of Dougarie Estate on the beautiful Isle of Arran, provides a picturesque setting and elegant small wedding venue in Scotland for exclusive use. Set on its own, this lovely house built in the 19th century, looks across fields and the Machrie Golf Courses to the sea shore and the Mull of Kintyre beyond.

As a home, not a hotel, we are able to offer you ultimate privacy and unrivalled flexibility. This is a very comfortable and traditional yet elegant house with bright spacious rooms, lovely antiques, plenty of space and a real sense of charm. The house sleeps 14 in beautifully appointed bedrooms. There is also an additional cottage completely separate but a short walk away which sleeps 5 and a further estate house High Dougarie Farmhouse which sleeps 8 (subject to availability)

The house can be made available for you and your guests up to three days before your wedding to make sure last minute details are finalised. The setting for the ceremony can either be in the Estate Boathouse (Civil license applied for), an unusual and architecturally beautiful building with stunning views towards the Mull of Kintyre, or, if preferred, at the pretty church in the nearby village of Shiskine.

A lovely stone steading has been converted to provide ample space for a small reception and dance. It may also possible to erect a marquee in the grounds of the house for larger numbers.



We can recommend qualified chefs, florists, photographers, hairdressers, masseurs, make-up artists and beauticians to attend to couples onsite before the ceremony and celebrations. It is also possible to organise a helicopter, horse-drawn carriage or boat (weather dependant) for a truly memorable entrance or departure for the bride and groom. Bespoke leisure activities can also be arranged for guest participation.
